Product Designer

StarTech Engineering Pvt. Ltd., an established autoparts manufacturer in Lahore since 2000, is seeking a Product Designer to join the engineering and product development team. The role focuses on designing and improving components for motorcycles and tractors, working closely with mechanical engineers, production, and quality teams to convert functional requirements into manufacturable components. The Product Designer will help maintain STAR TECH's reputation for precision, durability and cost-effective designs while supporting continuous improvement and new product introductions.

Key responsibilities:

Create 2D and 3D conceptual and detailed designs for autoparts using CAD tools, ensuring designs meet functional, assembly and manufacturing constraints.

Develop and refine design specifications, tolerances, material selections and surface treatments for motorcycle and tractor components.

Collaborate with engineering, tooling and production teams to optimize designs for stamping, casting, machining and assembly processes.

Produce engineering drawings, BOM entries and revision documentation; support prototype build and testing activities.

Perform design validation through FEM checks, tolerance stack-ups and liaise with quality for failure analysis and corrective actions.

Support cost reduction initiatives by proposing design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) improvements and standardization options.

Participate in supplier technical reviews, provide clarifications and support development of supplier-sourced components.

Maintain version control, ensure compliance with company design standards and contribute to continuous improvement programs.

The position is based in Lahore and reports to the Head of Product Development. Candidates who demonstrate strong mechanical design experience in the automotive or autoparts sector, practical knowledge of manufacturing methods and a collaborative mindset will be prioritized

Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks etc) and 2D drafting (AutoCAD); ability to produce detailed drawings and assemblies.

Experience with designing principles, tolerance analysis and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing.

Familiarity with common manufacturing processes (stamping, casting, CNC machining, welding, surface treatments) and material selection for metals and alloys used in autoparts.

Ability to perform basic FEM/static analysis or coordinate with analysis engineers to validate designs.

Experience preparing BOMs, revision-controlled documentation and prototype build support.

Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work cross-functionally with production, QA and suppliers.

Good communication skills in English and Urdu; ability to present design concepts and technical justifications.

Experience in automotive/autoparts product design, ideally for motorcycles, tractors or related components
