Lathman / Die Fitter

StarTech Engineering Pvt. Ltd., established in 2000 and based in Lahore, is a leading autoparts manufacturer supplying precision components for motorcycles and tractors. We are seeking an experienced Lathman / Die Fitter to join our manufacturing team to support production of high-quality machined parts and tooling maintenance. The role is hands-on within a busy workshop environment and contributes directly to product accuracy, process reliability and on-time delivery.

Key responsibilities:

Operate and set up conventional lathes, milling machines and related metalworking equipment to produce components to drawing specifications.

Perform die fitting, assembly and adjustment of tooling and fixtures; ensure dies are mounted, aligned and secured correctly for production runs.

Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and surface finish requirements and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers and gauges.

Carry out routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues and make minor repairs to machines and dies.

Work closely with production planners and quality control to ensure first-pass yield and minimize rework or scrap.

Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow standard operating procedures and shop safety regulations.

Document setting parameters, maintenance activities and process improvements to support continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is based in our Lahore manufacturing facility and reports to the Workshop Supervisor. Candidates who demonstrate precision machining skills, die-fitting experience and a strong safety mindset will thrive in this role.

Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience in lathe operation and die fitting in an automotive or metalworking environment.

Proven ability to set up and operate conventional lathes, milling machines and basic press tooling.

Skilled in reading engineering drawings, GD&T fundamentals, tolerance interpretation and blueprint verification.

Proficient with measuring instruments: vernier caliper, micrometer, dial indicator, height gauge and bore gauge.

Experience in die assembly, alignment, bench fitting, and fixture adjustments for high-volume production.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, ability to perform preventive maintenance and basic machining repairs.

Familiarity with shop safety practices, lockout/tagout, and PPE usage; able to follow SOPs and quality checklists.

Good communication and teamwork skills; able to collaborate with quality, maintenance and production teams to meet targets.
